ਅਰਥ: (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ) ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦੀ) ਇਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਸ ਤਦੋਂ ਪੂਰੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਪੂਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ (ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ) ਬਹੁਤ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਪੀੜ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੌਸਲਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋਏ) ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਦੀ ਰੌ ਨਾਲ ਮਸਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਦਾ ਚਾਉ ਪੈਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਉਹ ਚਾਉ ਇਤਨਾ ਤੀਬਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਮਿਲਾਪ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਭੀ ਰਿਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।੧। ਹੇ ਮਾਲਕ! ਆਖ-) ਹੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਲਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ) ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਡੰਗੋਰੀ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਕੰਗਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਧਨ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਮੁਨੀ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ। (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਭਗਤ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਹੀ ਸੇਵਕ, ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ।੨।੨।੧੨੭।

अर्थ: (हे भाई! परमात्मा का) नाम सुन के मेरे अंदर आत्मिक जीवन पैदा हो जाता है (पर प्रभू का नाम सिमरने की) मेरी आशा तब पूरी होती है जब पूरा गुरू (मेरे ऊपर) बहुत प्रसन्न होता है।1। रहाउ। (हे भाई! गुरू की कृपा से जब मैं नाम जपता हूँ, मेरे अंदर से) पीड़ा दूर हो जाती है, मेरे में हौंसला बन जाता है, मैं (अपने अंदर पैदा हुए) आत्मिक आनंद की रौंअ से मस्त हो जाता हूँ, मेरे अंदर प्रीतम प्रभू को मिलने का चाव पैदा हो जाता है, (वह चाव इतना तीव्र हो जाता है कि प्रभू के मिलाप के बिना) एक छिन भी रहा नहीं जा सकता।1। हे मालिक! (कह-) हे अनेकों गुणों के मालिक प्रभू! (तेरा नाम) अंधे मनुष्य को, जैसे, छड़ी मिल जाती है, कंगाल को धन मिल जाता है। हे प्रभू! अनेकों ही ऋषि-मुनि तेरा नाम सिमरते हैं। (सिमरन करने वाले) अनेकों ही भक्त अनेकों ही सेवक, हे प्रभू! तूने (संसार-समुंद्र से) पार लंघा दिए हैं।2।2।127।
