ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਵਨ – ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਦਾ ਮਹਾਨ ਤਿਆਗ

ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਉਹ ਮਹਾਨ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਸਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਅੱਜ ਵੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਸ਼ਕਾਮ ਸੇਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਮ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ 1720 ਵਿੱਚ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਪੋਹਲਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਸਿੰਧੂ ਜੱਟ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਨਮੇ ਸਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਭਾਈ ਜੋਧ ਸਿੰਘ ਇੱਕ ਬਹਾਦਰ ਸਿੱਖ ਸਨ, ਜੋ ਮੁਗਲ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਜੰਗਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਹੋਏ। ਮਾਤਾ ਬੀਬੀ ਧਰਮ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਰਵਰਿਸ਼ ਧਰਮਕ ਅਤੇ ਆਦਰਸ਼ ਸਿੱਖ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਸਿਧਾਂਤਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ।

ਪਿਛੋਕੜ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਵਰਿਸ਼
ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਨਿਸ਼ਕਾਮ ਸਿੱਖ ਸਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਹਰ ਪਲ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਰਵਰਿਸ਼ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਰ ਅਤੇ ਮਿਹਨਤੀ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਈ। ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ‘ਤੇ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਕਰਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਦਾ ਗੁਜਾਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਪਰ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਅਤੇ ਮਿਤਵ੍ਯਤਾ ਵਾਲਾ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਚਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਪੈਸੇ ਅਤੇ ਰਸਦ ਮੁਗਲ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਦੇ ਜ਼ੁਲਮਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਲਾਇਤ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਲਈ ਵਰਤਦੇ ਸਨ।

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਛੋਟੀ ਭੈਣ ਬੀਬੀ ਤਾਰ ਕੌਰ ਵੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਯੋਧਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਲ ਨਿੱਤ ਸਾਥ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਭੈਣ-ਭਰਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਜੋ ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁਗਲ ਜ਼ੁਲਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ ਛੁਪ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਮਕ ਸਮਰਪਣ ਨੇ ਮੁਗਲ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਨੂੰ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਹੋਰ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਕਦਮ ਚੁੱਕਣ ਲਈ ਮਜਬੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਮੁਗਲ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਵਲੋਂ ਪਕੜਾਉ
ਜੰਡਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇਤ ਹਕੀਕਤ ਦਾਸ, ਜੋ ਇੱਕ ਮੁਗਲ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਮੁਖਬਿਰ ਸੀ, ਨੇ ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਅਤੇ ਬੀਬੀ ਤਾਰ ਕੌਰ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦੇਣ ਦੀ ਰਿਪੋਰਟ ਮੁਗਲ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਦੇ ਨਾਜ਼ਮ ਜਾਕਿਰਿਆ ਖ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਹੌਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਵਰਨਰ ਜਾਕਿਰਿਆ ਖ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।

ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ‘ਤੇ ਇਲਜ਼ਾਮ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਮੁਗਲ ਹਕੂਮਤ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਲੜਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਜਦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਧਰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰਿਵਰਤਿਤ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਆਦੇਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਤੇ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਦਾ ਵਾਅਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਗਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਜ਼ੁਲਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਝੁਕਣ ਦੀ ਬਜਾਏ ਮੌਤ ਨੂੰ ਕਬੂਲ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਰਾਰਿਕ ਯਾਤਨਾ
ਜਾਕਿਰਿਆ ਖ਼ਾਂ ਨੇ ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਸ਼ਰਤ ਰੱਖੀ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੇਸ (ਵਾਲ) ਮੁੰਡਵਾ ਦੇਣ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਬਖਸ਼ੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ, ਪਰ ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਕੇਸ ਮੁੰਡਵਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, 9 ਜੂਨ 1745 ਨੂੰ, ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸਿਰ ਦੀ ਖਾਲ (ਚਮੜੀ) ਬੇਹੱਦ ਦਰਦਨਾਕ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਉਤਾਰੀ ਗਈ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੇਸ ਵਾਪਸ ਨਾਹ ਆ ਸਕਣ। ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਬੇਹੱਦ ਕਸਾਈਪੁਣਾ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਦੇ ਕੇਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਹੱਤਵ ਨੂੰ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।

ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਦਰਦ ਅਤੇ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਸਹਿ ਕੇ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਧਰਮ ਦੇ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਨਜ਼ਰਅੰਦਾਜ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਲਈ ਸਿਰ ਵਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਪਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੇਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਲਈ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਖੜੇ ਰਹੇ। ਇਸ ਤਿਆਗ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੇਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਇਜ਼ਤ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆਵਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਦਿਤੀ।

ਅੰਤਿਮ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਹੀਦਗੰਜ
ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਲਾਹੌਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਿੱਲੀ ਗੇਟ ਦੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਸਥਿਤ ਇੱਕ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ‘ਤੇ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਥਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਿੱਚ “ਸ਼ਹੀਦਗੰਜ” ਬਣਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ, ਜੋ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਮਹਾਨ ਤੀਰਥ ਸਥਾਨ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ। ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਨੂੰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਉਚੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨਾਲ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਬੱਲੀਦਾਨ ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਦੀ ਆਦਰਸ਼ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਦਾ ਸਿੰਬਲ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ
ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਬਕ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਆਪਣੇ ਧਰਮ ਲਈ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਵੀ ਬਲਦਾਨ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਾ ਦੇਣਾ ਪਏ, ਪਰ ਸੱਚ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਟਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਵਿਰਾਸਤ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰੂਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆਵਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਅਮਲ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਦੇ ਮੂਲ ਸਿਧਾਂਤਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

ਅੱਜ ਭਾਈ ਤਾਰੂ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਹੀਦਗੰਜ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਹਾਨ ਸ਼ਹਾਦਤ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਣਾਦਾਇਕ ਸਥਾਨ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੀਵਨੀ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਣ, ਹਿੰਮਤ, ਅਤੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਨਿਸ਼ਠਾ ਦਾ ਮਹਾਨ ਉਦਾਹਰਣ ਦਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ।

भाई तारू सिंह जी का जीवन और शहादत – सिख धर्म का महान बलिदान

जन्म और पारिवारिक पृष्ठभूमि
भाई तारू सिंह जी सिख धर्म के एक महान शहीद थे, जिनका बलिदान आज भी सिख कौम को निस्वार्थ सेवा और धर्म की रक्षा के लिए प्रेरित करता है। भाई तारू सिंह जी का जन्म 1720 में पंजाब के अमृतसर ज़िले के गाँव पूहला में संधू जाट परिवार में हुआ था। उनके पिता, भाई जोध सिंह, एक वीर सिख योद्धा थे, जो मुगल हुकूमत के खिलाफ युद्ध में शहीद हुए थे। उनके बाद, भाई तारू सिंह जी का पालन-पोषण उनकी माता बीबी धरम कौर ने एक धार्मिक और आदर्श सिख वातावरण में किया।

पारिवारिक परवरिश
भाई तारू सिंह जी एक बहुत ही निस्वार्थ सिख थे, जिन्होंने अपना जीवन सिख धर्म की सेवा और सिख कौम की रक्षा के लिए समर्पित किया। उनकी परवरिश विनम्रता और मेहनत के वातावरण में हुई। भाई तारू सिंह जी अपनी ज़मीन पर मेहनत करके अपने परिवार का गुज़ारा करते थे, लेकिन उनका जीवन सादा और मितव्ययी था। उन्होंने जो कुछ भी बचाया, वह मुगल हुकूमत के ज़ुल्मों से पलायन करने वाले सिखों की मदद में लगाया।

उनकी छोटी बहन बीबी तार कौर भी सिख योद्धाओं की मदद में भाई तारू सिंह का साथ देती थी। ये दोनों भाई-बहन सिख बंधुओं को सहायता कर रहे थे, जो जंगलों में मुगल अत्याचारों से बचने के लिए छिपे हुए थे। इनकी सहायता और धार्मिक समर्पण ने मुगल हुकूमत को इनके खिलाफ सख्त कदम उठाने के लिए मजबूर कर दिया।

मुगल हुकूमत द्वारा गिरफ्तारी
जंडियाला के एक सरकारी मुखबिर, अकील दास ने भाई तारू सिंह जी और बीबी तार कौर के सिखों को सहायता देने की जानकारी मुगल हुकूमत के गवर्नर जकरिया खान को दी। इसके बाद भाई तारू सिंह जी को लाहौर में गवर्नर जकरिया खान के दरबार में पेश किया गया।

भाई तारू सिंह जी पर आरोप लगाया गया कि वे मुगल हुकूमत के खिलाफ लड़ने वाले सिखों की सहायता कर रहे हैं। जब उन्हें इस्लाम धर्म अपनाने का आदेश दिया गया, तो उन्होंने इस आदेश को कभी स्वीकार नहीं किया। उन्होंने अपनी सिखी और गुरु साहिब की शिक्षाओं पर अडिग रहने का वादा किया और मुगल ज़ुल्मों के आगे झुकने की बजाय मौत को गले लगाया।

शहादत और शारीरिक यातना
जकरिया खान ने भाई तारू सिंह को पकड़कर यह शर्त रखी कि अगर वे अपने केश (बाल) कटवा देंगे तो उनकी जान बख्श दी जाएगी, लेकिन भाई तारू सिंह ने केश कटवाने से इनकार कर दिया। इसके बाद, 9 जून 1745 को, भाई तारू सिंह जी की खोपड़ी को बहुत ही दर्दनाक तरीके से एक तेज़ चाकू से उतारा गया ताकि उनके बाल कभी वापस न उग सकें। यह एक अत्यंत क्रूर कृत्य था, जिसे सिखी के केशों के महत्व को कमजोर करने के उद्देश्य से किया गया था।

भाई तारू सिंह जी ने अत्यधिक दर्द और यातनाओं को सहा, लेकिन अपने धर्म के नियमों को कभी नहीं छोड़ा। उन्होंने अपने गुरु और सिखी के लिए अपना सिर वार दिया, लेकिन अपने केशों की रक्षा के लिए हमेशा खड़े रहे। उनके इस बलिदान ने सिखों को हमेशा अपने केशों की इज़्ज़त करने और अपने गुरु की शिक्षाओं पर अडिग रहने की प्रेरणा दी।

अंतिम संस्कार और शहीदगंज
भाई तारू सिंह जी की शहादत के बाद, उनके शव का अंतिम संस्कार लाहौर में दिल्ली गेट के बाहर एक स्थान पर किया गया। इस स्थान पर बाद में “शहीदगंज” बनाया गया, जो सिखों के लिए एक महान तीर्थ स्थान बन गया। सिख इतिहास में भाई तारू सिंह जी की शहादत को हमेशा उच्च दृष्टि से देखा गया है और उनका बलिदान सिख धर्म के आदर्श शहीद का प्रतीक बन गया है।

भाई तारू सिंह जी की विरासत
भाई तारू सिंह जी की शहादत सिख कौम को यह सिखाती है कि अपने धर्म के लिए कितना भी बलिदान क्यों न देना पड़े, लेकिन सच्चाई के मार्ग से कभी पीछे नहीं हटना चाहिए। उनकी विरासत हमें हमेशा अपने गुरुओं की शिक्षाओं पर चलने और सिख धर्म के मूल सिद्धांतों पर अडिग रहने की प्रेरणा देती है।

Life and Martyrdom of Bhai Taru Singh Ji – A Great Sacrifice in Sikhism

Birth and Family Background
Bhai Taru Singh Ji was a great martyr of Sikhism, whose sacrifice still inspires the Sikh community to selflessly serve and protect their faith. Bhai Taru Singh Ji was born in 1720 in the village of Puhla, located in the Amritsar district of Punjab, into a Sandhu Jat family. His father, Bhai Jodh Singh, was a brave Sikh warrior who was martyred in the war against the Mughal Empire. After his father’s martyrdom, Bhai Taru Singh Ji was raised by his mother, Bibi Dharam Kaur, in a religious and ideal Sikh environment.

Family Upbringing
Bhai Taru Singh Ji was a very selfless Sikh who dedicated his life to serving Sikhism and protecting the Sikh community. He was raised in an atmosphere of humility and hard work. Bhai Taru Singh Ji worked hard on his land to support his family, but his life was simple and frugal. Whatever he saved from his earnings, he used to help Sikhs who were fleeing the atrocities of the Mughal regime.

His younger sister, Bibi Tar Kaur, also supported Bhai Taru Singh in helping the Sikh warriors. Both brother and sister assisted Sikh brothers who were hiding in forests to escape Mughal oppression. Their assistance and religious dedication forced the Mughal regime to take strict actions against them.

Arrest by the Mughal Regime
A government informant from Jandiala, Akil Das, provided information about Bhai Taru Singh Ji and Bibi Tar Kaur aiding the Sikhs to the Mughal governor Zakariya Khan. As a result, Bhai Taru Singh Ji was brought before Governor Zakariya Khan in Lahore.

Bhai Taru Singh Ji was accused of helping the Sikhs who were fighting against the Mughal regime. When asked to convert to Islam, he outright refused. He pledged to remain firm in his Sikh beliefs and teachings of Guru Sahib and preferred death over succumbing to the Mughal tyranny.

Martyrdom and Torture
Zakariya Khan captured Bhai Taru Singh and gave him the condition that if he agreed to cut his hair (kesh), his life would be spared. However, Bhai Taru Singh Ji refused to cut his hair. Consequently, on June 9, 1745, his scalp was painfully removed using a sharp blade so that his hair could never grow back. This act was a cruel attempt to undermine the importance of hair in Sikhism.

Bhai Taru Singh Ji endured immense pain and torture, but he never abandoned the principles of his faith. Two functions have been given by the company to source the monitor, first automatic and second manual. And there are two source options available in Moniot one is VGA and the other is DVI. If you connect cable to any source by keeping it in auto mode, then automatically you will not have any problem in connecting any cable. But when you put the monitor in manual mode and select the DVI source and connect the VGA cable to the port instead of DVI, you will automatically get the problem of colorblinking (burning mode).

अर्थ:हे भाई! खोजते खोजते जब मैं गुरू महा पुरख को मिला, तो पूरे गुरू ने (मुझे) यह समझ दी की (माया के मोह से बचने के लिए) ओर सारी जुग्तियों में से एक भी जुगत काम नहीं आती। परमात्मा का नाम सिमरिया हुआ ही काम आता है ॥१॥ इस लिए, हे भाई! मैंने परमात्मा का सहारा ले लिया। (जब मैं) सरब-व्यापक परमात्मा के शरन पड़ा, तो मेरे सारे (माया के) जंजाल नाश हो गए ॥ रहाउ ॥ हे भाई! देव लोग, मात लोग, पाताल-सारी ही सृष्टि माया (के मोह में) फंसी हुई है। हे भाई! सदा परमात्मा का नाम सिमरिया करो, यही है जिंद को (माया के मोह से) बचाने वाला, यही है सारी कुलों को तारने वाला ॥२॥ नानक जी! माया से निरलेप परमातमा का नाम गाना चाहिए, (नाम की बरकत से) सभी खजानों की प्रापती हो जाती है, पर (यह भेत) किसी (वह) विरले मनुष्य ने समझा है जिस पर मालिक प्रभू आप मेहर कर के (नाम की दात) देता है ॥३॥३॥२१॥

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਨੂੰ ਭੁਲਾਇਆਂ ਸਦਾ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ) ਬੇ-ਪਤੀ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੀ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ) ਧੋਖਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦਾ।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਜਿਤਨੀ ਭੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਨੀ ਹੈ (ਉਹ ਇਉਂ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੱਪ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਉਮਰ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਮਰ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਲੰਮੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਜ਼ਹਿਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ) । (ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੇ) ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਭੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹੇ, ਤਾਂ ਭੀ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਹਾਰ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਗੁਣਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਹੀ ਗਾਏ ਹਨ ਜਿਸ ਉਤੇ ਹਰੀ ਨੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਿਤੀਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਮੁਬਾਰਿਕ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਅਜੇਹੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਹੋਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।੨।

टोडी महला ५ ॥ हरि बिसरत सदा खुआरी ॥ ता कउ धोखा कहा बिआपै जा कउ ओट तुहारी ॥ रहाउ ॥ बिनु सिमरन जो जीवनु बलना सरप जैसे अरजारी ॥ नव खंडन को राजु कमावै अंति चलैगो हारी ॥१॥ गुण निधान गुण तिन ही गाए जा कउ किरपा धारी ॥ सो सुखीआ धंनु उसु जनमा नानक तिसु बलिहारी ॥२॥२॥

अर्थ: हे भाई! परमात्मा (के नाम) को भुलाने से सदा (माया के हाथों मनुष्य की) बेइज्जती ही होती है। हे प्रभू! जिस मनुष्य को तेरा आसरा हो, उसको (माया के किसी भी विकार से) धोखा नहीं लग सकता। रहाउ। हे भाई! परमात्मा के नाम-सिमरन के बिना जितनी भी जिंदगी गुजारनी है (वो ऐसे होती है) जैसे साँप (अपनी) उम्र गुजारता है (उम्र चाहे लंबी होती है, पर वह सदा अपने अंदर जहर पैदा करता रहता है)। (सिमरन से वंचित रहने वाला मनुष्य अगर) सारी धरती का राज भी करता रहे, तो भी आखिर मानस जीवन की बाजी हार के ही जाता है।1। हे नानक! (कह– हे भाई!) गुणों के खजाने हरी के गुण उस मनुष्य ने ही गाए हैं जिस पर हरी ने मेहर की है। वह मनुष्य सदा सुखी जीवन व्यतीत करता है, उसकी जिंदगी सदा मुबारिक होती है। ऐसे मनुष्य से कुर्बान होना चाहिए।2।2।

Todee, Fifth Mehla: Forgetting the Lord, one is ruined forever. ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਾਲਕ (ਦੇ ਨਾਮ) ਨਾਲ ਪਤੀਜ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਸ ਮਾਲਕ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ-ਰਸ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਪਛਾਣ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਿੱਤਰ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਸੁਖ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਬੀਤ ਚੁਕੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਬਣਾਈ ਰੱਖਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਨੇ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਵਿਓਂਤ ਬਣਾ ਰੱਖੀ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਕਿਤੇ ਭੀ ਡੋਲਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ।੧। ਹੇ ਦਇਆ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਖਵਾਲੀ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈਂ। ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਤੂੰ ਅਸਚਰਜ-ਸਰੂਪ ਹੈਂ। ਤੇਰੀ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਭੀ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਕਰ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਸ਼ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ) ਸਦਾ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੨।੨੩।੮੭।

सोरठि महला ५ ॥
आगै सुखु मेरे मीता ॥ पाछे आनदु प्रभि कीता ॥ परमेसुरि बणत बणाई ॥ फिरि डोलत कतहू नाही ॥१॥ साचे साहिब सिउ मनु मानिआ ॥ हरि सरब निरंतरि जानिआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ सभ जीअ तेरे दइआला ॥ अपने भगत करहि प्रतिपाला ॥ अचरजु तेरी वडिआई ॥ नित नानक नामु धिआई ॥२॥२३॥८७॥

अर्थ: हे भाई! जिस मनुष्य का मन सदा कायम रहने वाले मालिक (के नाम) से पतीज जाता है, वह मनुष्य उस मालिक प्रभू को सब में एक-रस बसता पहचान लेता है।1। रहाउ। हे मेरे मित्र! जिस मनुष्य के आगे आने वाले जीवन में प्रभू ने सुख बना दिया, जिसके बीत चुके जीवन में भी प्रभू ने आनंद बनाए रखा, जिस मनुष्य के लिए परमेश्वर ने ऐसी योजना बना रखी, वह मनुष्य (लोक-परलोक में) कहीं भी डोलता नहीं।1। हे दया के घर प्रभू! सारे जीव तेरे पैदा किए हुए हैं, तू अपने भक्तों की रखवाली स्वयं ही करता है। हे प्रभू! तू आश्चर्य स्वरूप है। तेरी बख्शिश भी हैरान कर देने वाली है। हे नानक! (कह– जिस मनुष्य पर प्रभू बख्शिश करता है, वह) सदा उसका नाम सिमरता रहता है।2।23।87।

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਭਾਉ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਛੁ ਜਾਨੈ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਅਚਰਜੁ ਕਾਹੋ ॥ ਜਿਉ ਜਲੁ ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਪੈਸਿ ਨ ਨਿਕਸੈ ਤਿਉ ਢੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਜੁਲਾਹੋ ॥੧॥ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਲੋਗਾ ਮੈ ਤਉ ਮਤਿ ਕਾ ਭੋਰਾ ॥ ਜਉ ਤਨੁ ਕਾਸੀ ਤਜਹਿ ਕਬੀਰਾ ਰਮਈਐ ਕਹਾ ਨਿਹੋਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਕਹਤੁ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਸੁਨਹੁ ਰੇ ਲੋਈ ਭਰਮਿ ਨ ਭੂਲਹੁ ਕੋਈ ॥ ਕਿਆ ਕਾਸੀ ਕਿਆ ਊਖਰੁ ਮਗਹਰੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਜਉ ਹੋਈ ॥੨॥੩॥

ਰਾਗੁ ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਭਗਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਕੀ
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ਜੋ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਬਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ (ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ-ਮਿੱਕ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਾ ਕੋਈ ਵੱਡੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ), ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਕੋਈ ਅਨੋਖੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਮੁੜ) ਵੱਖਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ, ਤਿਵੇਂ (ਕਬੀਰ) ਜੁਲਾਹ (ਭੀ) ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਮਿਟਾ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ।੧। ਹੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨੋ! (ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਣੇ) ਮੈਂ ਮੱਤ ਦਾ ਕਮਲਾ ਹੀ ਸਹੀ (ਭਾਵ, ਲੋਕ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਏ ਮੂਰਖ ਆਖਣ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਕਾਂਸ਼ੀ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਮਗਹਰ ਆ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ) । (ਪਰ,) ਹੇ ਕਬੀਰ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਕਾਂਸ਼ੀ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ) ਸਰੀਰ ਛੱਡੇਂ (ਤੇ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਏ) ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਕੀਹ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਸਮਝਿਆ ਜਾਇਗਾ? ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਕਾਂਸ਼ੀ ਵਿਚ ਤਾਂ ਉਂਞ ਹੀ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਮਰਨ ਲੱਗਿਆਂ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਦਾ ਕੀਹ ਲਾਭ? ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। (ਪਰ) ਕਬੀਰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ—ਹੇ ਲੋਕੋ! ਸੁਣੋ, ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਿਸੇ ਭੁਲੇਖੇ ਵਿਚ ਨਾਹ ਪੈ ਜਾਏ (ਕਿ ਕਾਂਸ਼ੀ ਵਿਚ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇ ਮਗਹਰ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ), ਜੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ (ਦਾ ਨਾਮ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਕਾਂਸ਼ੀ ਕੀਹ ਤੇ ਕਲਰਾਠਾ ਮਗਹਰ ਕੀਹ (ਦੋਹੀਂ ਥਾਈਂ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਸਕੀਦਾ ਹੈ) ।੨।੩।

रागु धनासरी बाणी भगत कबीर जी की
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
जो जनु भाउ भगति कछु जानै ता कउ अचरजु काहो ॥ जिउ जलु जल महि पैसि न निकसै तिउ ढुरि मिलिओ जुलाहो ॥१॥ हरि के लोगा मै तउ मति का भोरा ॥ जउ तनु कासी तजहि कबीरा रमईऐ कहा निहोरा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ कहतु कबीरु सुनहु रे लोई भरमि न भूलहु कोई ॥ किआ कासी किआ ऊखरु मगहरु रामु रिदै जउ होई ॥२॥३॥

अर्थ: जैसे पानी, पानी में मिल के (दोबारा) अलग नहीं हो सकता, वैसे (कबीर) जुलाहा (भी) स्वै भाव मिटा के परमात्मा में मिल गया है। इस में कोई अनोखी बात नहीं है, जो भी मनुष्य प्रभू-प्रेम और प्रभू-भक्ति से सांझ बनाता है (उसका प्रभू के साथ एक हो जाना कोई बड़ी बात नहीं है)।1। हे संत जनो! (लोगों के लिए तो) मैं दिमाग का पागल ही सही (भाव, लोग मुझे भले ही मूर्ख कहें कि मैं काशी छोड़ के मगहर आ गया हूँ)। (पर,) हे कबीर! अगर तू काशी में (रहते हुए) शरीर त्यागे (और मुक्ति मिल जाए) तो इसमें परमात्मा का क्या उपकार समझा जाएगा? क्योंकि काशी में तो वैसे ही इन लोगों के ख्याल के मुताबिक मरने पर मुक्ति मिल जाती है, तो फिर सिमरने से क्या लाभ?।1। रहाउ। (पर) कबीर कहता है– हे लोगो! सुनो, कोई मनुष्य किसी भुलेखे में ना पड़ जाए (कि काशी में मुक्ति मिलती है, और मगहर में नहीं मिलती), अगर परमात्मा (का नाम) हृदय में हो, तो काशी क्या और कलराठा मगहर क्या? (दोनों तरफ प्रभू में लीन हुआ जा सकता है)।2।3।

That humble being, who knows even a little about loving devotional worship – what surprises are there for him? Like water, dripping into water, which cannot be separated out again, so is the weaver Kabeer, with softened heart, merged into the Lord. ||1|| O people of the Lord, I am just a simple-minded fool. If Kabeer were to leave his body at Benares, and so liberate himself, what obligation would he have to the Lord? ||1||Pause|| Says Kabeer, listen, O people – do not be deluded by doubt. ਅਰਥ: (ਹੇ ਮਾਧੋ!) ਜਿਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਉਮੈ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਤੂੰ (ਅਸਾਡੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਪਰਗਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਤਦੋਂ ਅਸਾਡੀ ‘ਮੈਂ’ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ; (ਇਸ ‘ਮੈਂ’ ਦੇ ਹਟਣ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬੜਾ ਤੂਫ਼ਾਨ ਆਇਆਂ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਕਾ-ਨਕ ਭਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਅਸਲ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ (ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੇ) ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਣੀ ਹੀ ਹੈ (ਤਿਵੇਂ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਆ ਜੰਤ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੀ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਹੈ) ।੧। ਹੇ ਮਾਧੋ! ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਅਸੀ ਜੋ ਮੰਨੀ ਬੈਠੇ ਹਾਂ (ਕਿ ਜਗਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਹੈ) , ਉਹ ਠੀਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। (ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਕੋਈ ਰਾਜਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਉਤੇ ਸੌਂ ਜਾਏ, ਤੇ, ਸੁਫ਼ਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਮੰਗਤਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਏ, ਰਾਜ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਸੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਉਹ (ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਰਾਜ ਤੋਂ) ਵਿਛੜ ਕੇ ਦੁੱਖੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ (ਹੇ ਮਾਧੋ! ਤੈਥੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜ ਕੇ) ਅਸਾਡਾ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਾਲ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।੨। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਰੱਸੀ ਤੇ ਸੱਪ ਦਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਂਤ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ (ਸੋਨੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਣੇ ਹੋਏ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕੜੇ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਪੈ ਜਾਏ (ਕਿ ਸੋਨਾ ਹੀ ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਅਸਾਨੂੰ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਹੈ) , ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਕੁਝ ਕੁਝ ਭੇਤ ਜਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ ਉਹ ਪੁਰਾਣੀ ਵਿਤਕਰੇ ਵਾਲੀ ਗੱਲ ਮੈਥੋਂ ਆਖੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ (ਭਾਵ, ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਕਿ ਜਗਤ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਹੈ) ।੩। (ਹੁਣ ਤਾਂ) ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਖਸਮ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਰੂਪ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਇੱਕ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਘਟਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬੈਠਾ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। (ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ) ਮੇਰੇ ਹੱਥ ਤੋਂ ਭੀ ਨੇੜੇ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕੁਝ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਵਰਤ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।੪।੧। ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਭਾਵ: ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਜੀਵ ਆਪਣੀ ‘ਹਉਂ’ ਦੇ ਘੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ‘ਹਉਂ’ ਹੈ, ਉਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਵਿਤਕਰੇ ਹਨ।

अर्थ: (हे माधो!) जब तक हम जीवों में अहंकार रहता है, तब तक तू (हमारे अंदर) प्रकट नहीं होता, पर जब तू प्रत्यक्ष होता है तब हमारी ‘मैं’ दूर हो जाती है; (इस ‘मैं’ के हटने से ही हमें ये समझ आ जाती है कि) जैसे बड़ा तूफ़ान आने से समुंद्र लहरों से नाको-नाक भर जाता है, पर असल में वह (लहरें समुंद्र के) पानी में पानी ही हैं (वैसे ही ये सारे जीव-जंतु तेरा अपना ही विकास हैं)।1। हे माधो! हम जीवों को कुछ ऐसा भुलेखा पड़ा हुआ है कि ये बयान नहीं किया जा सकता। हम जो मानें बैठे हैं (कि जगत तेरे से कोई अलग हस्ती है), वह ठीक नहीं है।1। रहाउ। (जैसे) कोई राजा अपने तख़्त पर बैठा सो जाए, और सपने में भिखारी बन जाए, राज होते हुए भी वह (सपने में राज से) विछुड़ के दुखी होता है, वैसे ही (हे माधो! तुझसे विछुड़ के) हम जीवों का हाल हो रहा है।2। जैसे रस्सी और साँप का दृष्टांत है, जैसे (सोने से बने हुए) अनेकों कड़े देख के भुलेखा पड़ जाए (कि सोना ही कई किस्म का होता है, वैसे ही हमें भुलेखा पड़ा हुआ है कि ये जगत तुझसे अलग है), पर तूने अब मुझे कुछ-कुछ भेद जता दिया है। अब वह पुरानी भेद-भाव वाली बात मुझसे कहीं नहीं जाती (भाव, अब मैं ये नहीं कहता कि जगत तुझसे अलग हस्ती है)।3। (अब तो) रविदास कहता है कि वह प्रभू-पति अनेकों रूप बना के सभी में एक स्वयं ही है, सभी घटों में खुद ही बैठा जगत के रंग माण रहा है। (दूर नहीं) मेरे हाथ से भी नजदीक है, जो कुछ (जगत में) हो रहा है, उसी की रजा में हो रहा है।4।1। शबद का भाव: परमात्मा सर्व-व्यापक है। पर जीव अपनी ‘हउ’ (मैं) के घेरे में रह के जगत को उससे अलग हस्ती समझता है। जब तक ‘मैं’ है, तब तक भेदभाव है।

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਭਗਤ ਸੁਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਬਿਤੀਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਆਪ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਪਾਪ ਕੱਟ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਉਹੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਰਿਸ਼ਤੇਦਾਰ ਹੈ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਪਰ, ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਤੋਂ ਵਿੱਛੁੜ ਕੇ ਦੁਖ ਸਹਾਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਦੇ ਸੁਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ, ਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ (ਦੁੱਖੀ ਹੋ ਕੇ) ਪਛੁਤਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਤੁਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਇਹ (ਆਪਣਾ) ਪਰਵਾਰ ਭੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਨਿਰਾ ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਤਾਂਹੀਏਂ) ਜਗਤ (ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ) ਭਟਕ ਕੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਇਹ ਬੰਧਨ ਟੁੱਟਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਮੋਹ ਦੇ ਬੰਧਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ) ਖ਼ਲਾਸੀ ਪਾਣ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਲੱਭ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਿਰੇ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ-ਧੰਧੇ ਹੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਂਦੇ, ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਜੰਮਦੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।੨। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ‘ਮੈਂ ਵੱਡਾ ਹਾਂ’, ‘ਇਹ ਧਨ ਆਦਿਕ ਮੇਰਾ ਹੈ’-ਇਸ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਜਗਤ ਉਲਝਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ (ਉਂਞ) ਕੋਈ ਭੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ (ਸਦਾ ਦਾ ਸਾਥੀ) ਨਹੀਂ ਬਣ ਸਕਦਾ। ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰੀ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ (ਆਤਮਕ) ਨਿਵਾਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ (ਇਸ ਭੇਤ ਨੂੰ) ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਪੜਤਾਲਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਸਹਾਈ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।੩। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਹੀ ਦਇਆਵਾਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ (ਮਾਇਆ-ਵੇੜ੍ਹਿਆ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ) ਕਿਸਮਤਿ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਕੀਹ ਮਿਲੇ? ਗੁਰੂ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਪਿਆਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਪਰ ਸਾਡੀ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ) ਜਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਭਾਵਨਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਫਲ (ਸਾਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ) ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਲਈਏ, ਤਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ।੪।੬।

सोरठि महला ३ ॥ सो सिखु सखा बंधपु है भाई जि गुर के भाणे विचि आवै ॥ आपणै भाणै जो चलै भाई विछुड़ि चोटा खावै ॥ बिनु सतिगुर सुखु कदे न पावै भाई फिरि फिरि पछोतावै ॥१॥ हरि के दास सुहेले भाई ॥ जनम जनम के किलबिख दुख काटे आपे मेलि मिलाई ॥ रहाउ ॥ इहु कुट्मबु सभु जीअ के बंधन भाई भरमि भुला सैंसारा ॥ बिनु गुर बंधन टूटहि नाही गुरमुखि मोख दुआरा ॥ करम करहि गुर सबदु न पछाणहि मरि जनमहि वारो वारा ॥२॥ हउ मेरा जगु पलचि रहिआ भाई कोइ न किस ही केरा ॥ गुरमुखि महलु पाइनि गुण गावनि निज घरि होइ बसेरा ॥ ऐथै बूझै सु आपु पछाणै हरि प्रभु है तिसु केरा ॥३॥ सतिगुरू सदा दइआलु है भाई विणु भागा किआ पाईऐ ॥ एक नदरि करि वेखै सभ ऊपरि जेहा भाउ तेहा फलु पाईऐ ॥ नानक नामु वसै मन अंतरि विचहु आपु गवाईऐ ॥४॥६॥

अर्थ: हे भाई! परमात्मा के भक्त सुखी जीवन व्यतीत करते हैं। परमात्मा स्वयं उनके जनम मरण के दुख-पाप काट देता है, और उन्हें अपने चरणों में मिला लेता है। रहाउ। हे भाई! वही मनुष्य गुरू का सिख है, गुरू का मित्र है, गुरू का रिश्तेदार है, जो गुरू की रजा में चलता है। पर, जो मनुष्य अपनी मर्जी के मुताबक चलता है, वह प्रभू से विछुड़ के दुख सहता है। गुरू की शरण पड़े बिना मनुष्य कभी सुख नहीं पा सकता, और बार बार (दुखी हो के) पछताता है।1। हे भाई! (गुरू की रजा में चले बिना) ये (अपना) परिवार भी जीव के लिए निरा मोह का बंधन बन जाता है, (तभी तो) जगत (गुरू से) भटक के गलत रास्ते पर पड़ा रहता है। गुरू की शरण आए बिना ये बंधन टूटते नहीं। गुरू की शरण पड़ने वाला मनुष्य (मोह के बंधनों से) निजात पाने का राह तलाश लेता है। जो लोग निरे दुनिया के काम-धंधे ही करते हैं, और गुरू के शबद के साथ सांझ नहीं डालते, वे बार-बार पैदा होते मरते रहते हैं।2। हे भाई! ‘मैं बड़ा हूँ’, ‘ये धन आदि मेरा है’ – इसमें ही जगत उलझा हुआ है (वैसे) कोई भी किसी का (सदा साथी) नहीं बन सकता। गुरू की शरण पड़ने वाले मनुष्य परमात्मा की सिफत सालाह करते हैं, और परमात्मा की हजूरी प्राप्त किए रहते हैं, उनका (आत्मिक) निवास प्रभू चरणों में हुआ रहता है। जो मनुष्य इस जीवन में ही (इस भेत को) समझ लेता है, वह अपने आत्मिक जीवन को पड़तालता रहता है (आत्म चिंतन करता है), परमात्मा उस मनुष्य का सहायक बना रहता है।3। हे भाई! गुरू हर समय ही दयावान रहता है (माया-ग्रसित मनुष्य गुरू की शरण नहीं आता) किस्मत के बिना (गुरू से) क्या मिले? गुरू सबको एक प्यार की निगाह से देखता है। (पर हमारी जीवों की) जैसी भावना होती है वैसा ही फल (हमें गुरू से) मिल जाता है। हे नानक! (अगर गुरू की शरण पड़ के अपने) अंदर से स्वै भाव दूर कर लें तो परमात्मा का नाम मन में आ बसता है।4।6।

ਮੇਰੈ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਰਤਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਬਸਿਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਹਾਥੁ ਧਰਿਓ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਾਥਾ ॥ ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਦੁਖ ਉਤਰੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੀਓ ਰਿਨੁ ਲਾਥਾ ॥੧॥ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਭਜੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਭਿ ਅਰਥਾ ॥ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਜੀਵਨੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਮੂੜ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਤੇ ਮੋਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਨਿਤ ਫਾਥਾ ॥ ਤਿਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਚਰਣ ਨ ਸੇਵੇ ਕਬਹੂ ਤਿਨ ਸਭੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਕਾਥਾ ॥੨॥ ਜਿਨ ਸਾਧੂ ਚਰਣ ਸਾਧ ਪਗ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਿਨ ਸਫਲਿਓ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਨਾਥਾ ॥ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕੀਜੈ ਦਾਸੁ ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੋ ਹਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰਿ ਜਗੰਨਾਥਾ ॥੩॥ ਹਮ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਗਿਆਨਹੀਨ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਿਉ ਚਾਲਹ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪੰਥਾ ॥ ਹਮ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਕਉ ਗੁਰ ਅੰਚਲੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਚਲਹ ਮਿਲੰਥਾ ॥੪॥੧॥

ਅਰਥ: ਰਾਗ ਜੈਤਸਰੀ, ਘਰ ੧ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਚਾਰ-ਬੰਦਾਂ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਾਣੀ।
ਅਕਾਲ ਪੁਰਖ ਇੱਕ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
(ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਦੋਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੱਥ ਰੱਖਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਰਤਨ (ਵਰਗਾ ਕੀਮਤੀ) ਨਾਮ ਆ ਵੱਸਿਆ। (ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਾਪ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ, (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਿਰੋਂ ਪਾਪਾਂ ਦਾ) ਕਰਜ਼ਾ ਉਤਰ ਗਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ! (ਸਦਾ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਕਰ, (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ) ਸਾਰੇ ਪਦਾਰਥ (ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ)। (ਹੇ ਮਨ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਿਆ ਰਹੁ) ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਹੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ) ਪੱਕਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਤੇ, ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮਨੁੱਖਾ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਚਲੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ (ਦੀ ਸਰਨ) ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੂਰਖ ਹੋਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਫਸੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਦੇ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥ ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜੇਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਓਟ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਖਸਮ ਵਾਲੇ ਬਣ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਨਾਥ! ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਾਸਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਾਸ ਬਣਾ ਲੈ ॥੩॥ ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਅਸੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚ ਅੰਨ੍ਹੇ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ, ਅਸੀਂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਤੋਂ ਸੱਖਣੇ ਹਾਂ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਹੀ ਜੀਵਨ-ਜੁਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਸੂਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਅਸੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੀਵਨ-ਰਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ। ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀ! (ਆਖੋ—) ਹੇ ਗੁਰੂ! ਸਾਨੂੰ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਪੱਲਾ ਫੜਾ, ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੱਲੇ ਲੱਗ ਕੇ ਅਸੀ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਹੋਏ ਰਸਤੇ ਉਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਸਕੀਏ ॥੪॥੧॥

जैतसरी महला ४ घरु १ चउपदे
ੴसतिगुर प्रसादि ॥
मेरै हीअरै रतनु नामु हरि बसिआ गुरि हाथु धरिओ मेरै माथा ॥ जनम जनम के किलबिख दुख उतरे गुरि नामु दीओ रिनु लाथा ॥१॥ मेरे मन भजु राम नामु सभि अरथा ॥ गुरि पूरै हरि नामु दि्रड़ाइआ बिनु नावै जीवनु बिरथा ॥ रहाउ ॥ बिनु गुर मूड़ भए है मनमुख ते मोह माइआ नित फाथा ॥ तिन साधू चरण न सेवे कबहू तिन सभु जनमु अकाथा ॥२॥ जिन साधू चरण साध पग सेवे तिन सफलिओ जनमु सनाथा ॥ मो कउ कीजै दासु दास दासन को हरि दइआ धारि जगंनाथा ॥३॥ हम अंधुले गिआनहीन अगिआनी किउ चालह मारगि पंथा ॥ हम अंधुले कउ गुर अंचलु दीजै जन नानक चलह मिलंथा ॥४॥१॥

अर्थ: राग जैतसरी, घर १ में गुरु रामदास जी की चार-बन्दों वाली बाणी।
अकाल पुरख एक है और सतिगुरु की कृपा द्वारा मिलता है।
(हे भाई! जब) गुरु ने मेरे सिर ऊपर अपना हाथ रखा, तो मेरे हृदय में परमात्मा का रत्न (जैसा कीमती) नाम आ वसा। (हे भाई! जिस भी मनुष्य को) गुरु ने परमात्मा का नाम दिया, उस के अनकों जन्मों के पाप दुःख दूर हो गए, (उस के सिर से पापों का कर्ज) उतर गया ॥१॥ हे मेरे मन! (सदा) परमात्मा का नाम सिमरिया कर, (परमात्मा) सारे पदार्थ (देने वाला है)। (हे मन! गुरु की सरन में ही रह) पूरे गुरु ने (ही) परमात्मा का नाम (ह्रदय में) पक्का किया है। और, नाम के बिना मनुष्य जीवन व्यर्थ चला जाता है ॥ रहाउ ॥ हे भाई! जो मनुष्य अपने मन के पीछे चलते है वह गुरु (की सरन) के बिना मुर्ख हुए रहते हैं, वह सदा माया के मोह में फसे रहते है। उन्होंने कभी भी गुरु का सहारा नहीं लिया, उनका सारा जीवन व्यर्थ चला जाता है ॥२॥ हे भाई! जो मनुष्य गुरू के चरनो का आसरा लेते हैं, वह गुरू वालेे बन जाते हैं, उनकी जिदंगी सफल हो जाती है। हे हरी! हे जगत के नाथ! मेरे पर मेहर कर, मुझे अपने दासों के दासों का दास बना ले ॥३॥ हे गुरू! हम माया मे अँधे हो रहे हैं, हम आतमिक जीवन की सूझ से अनजान हैं, हमे सही जीवन की सूझ नही है, हम आपके बताए हुए जीवन-राह पर चल नही सकते। दास नानक जी!(कहो-) हे गुरू! हम अँधियों के अपना पला दीजिए जिस से हम आपके बताए हुए रास्ते पर चल सकें ॥४॥१॥

They never serve the feet of the Holy; their lives are totally useless. ||2|| Those who serve at the feet of the Holy, the feet of the Holy, their lives are made fruitful, and they belong to the Lord. ਹਸਤੀ ਸਿਰਿ ਜਿਉ ਅੰਕਸੁ ਹੈ ਅਹਰਣਿ ਜਿਉ ਸਿਰੁ ਦੇਇ ॥ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਆਗੈ ਰਾਖਿ ਕੈ ਊਭੀ ਸੇਵ ਕਰੇਇ ॥ ਇਉ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੁ ਨਿਵਾਰੀਐ ਸਭੁ ਰਾਜੁ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਾ ਲੇਇ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੁਝੀਐ ਜਾ ਆਪੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥੧॥ ਮਃ ੩ ॥ ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਆਏ ਤੇ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੁਲ ਉਧਾਰਹਿ ਆਪਣਾ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਾਣੁ ॥੨॥ਪਉੜੀ ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਖੀਆ ਸਿਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਲਾਈਆ ॥ ਇਕਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ਇਕਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਕਾਰੈ ਲਾਈਆ ॥ ਜਿਨਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਮਨਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਤਿਨਾ ਭਾਉ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇਵਾਈਆ ॥ ਗੁਰ ਸਿਖਾ ਇਕੋ ਪਿਆਰੁ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਤਾ ਪੁਤਾ ਭਾਈਆ ॥ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਬੋਲਹੁ ਸਭਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਆਖਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀਵਾਈਆ ॥੧੪॥

ਅਰਥ: ਜਿਵੇਂ ਹਾਥੀ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਕੁੰਡਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਅਹਰਣ (ਵਦਾਨ ਹੇਠਾਂ) ਸਿਰ ਦੇਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਸਰੀਰ ਤੇ ਮਨ (ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ) ਅਰਪਣ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਸਾਵਧਾਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੋ; ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਪਾ-ਭਾਵ ਗਵਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ, ਮਾਨੋ, ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਲੈ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਦੋਂ ਹਰੀ ਆਪ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਦੋਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ।੧। (ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ) ਆਏ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਕਬੂਲ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਦੱਸੇ ਰਾਹ ਤੇ ਤੁਰ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਿਆ ਹੈ; ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਪਣੀ ਕੁਲ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਰ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਆਪ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਆਦਰ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।੨। ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖ ਸਿੱਖ (-ਰੂਪ) ਸਹੇਲੀਆਂ (ਆਪੋ ਵਿਚ) ਮਿਲਾਈਆਂ ਹਨ; ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕਈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਕਈਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ (ਹੋਰ) ਕਾਰੇ ਲਾਇਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ; ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਗੁਰੂ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਦਾ ਹੈ, ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਮਿੱਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਪੁਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇਕੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। (ਹੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਸਹੇਲੀਓ!) ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ‘ਗੁਰੂ, ਗੁਰੂ’ ਆਖੋ, ‘ਗੁਰੂ, ਗੁਰੂ’ ਆਖਿਆਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।੧੪।

हसती सिरि जिउ अंकसु है अहरणि जिउ सिरु देइ ॥ मनु तनु आगै राखि कै ऊभी सेव करेइ ॥ इउ गुरमुखि आपु निवारीऐ सभु राजु स्रिसटि का लेइ ॥ नानक गुरमुखि बुझीऐ जा आपे नदरि करेइ ॥१॥ मः ३ ॥ जिन गुरमुखि नामु धिआइआ आए ते परवाणु ॥ नानक कुल उधारहि आपणा दरगह पावहि माणु ॥२॥ पउड़ी ॥ गुरमुखि सखीआ सिख गुरू मेलाईआ ॥ इकि सेवक गुर पासि इकि गुरि कारै लाईआ ॥ जिना गुरु पिआरा मनि चिति तिना भाउ गुरू देवाईआ ॥ गुर सिखा इको पिआरु गुर मिता पुता भाईआ ॥ गुरु सतिगुरु बोलहु सभि गुरु आखि गुरू जीवाईआ ॥१४॥

Mukhwaak Meaning In Hindi

अर्थ: जैसे हाथी के सिर कुंडा है और जैसे अहरण (वदान के नीचे) सिर देती है, वैसे ही शरीर और मन (सतिगुरू को) अर्पण करके सावधान हो के सेवा करो; सतिगुरू के सन्मुख होने से मनुष्य इस तरह स्वैभाव गवाता है और, मानो, सारी सृष्टि का राज ले लेता है। हे नानक! जब हरी खुद कृपा भरी नजर करता है तब सतिगुरू के सन्मुख हो के ये समझ आती है।1। (संसार में) आए वह मनुष्य कबूल हैं जिन्होंने सतिगुरू के बताए राह पर चल कर नाम सिमरा है; हे नानक! वह मनुष्य अपना कुल तार लेते हैं और खुद दरगाह में आदर पाते हैं।2। सतिगुरू ने गुरमुख सिख (रूप) सहेलियां (आपस में) मिलाई हैं; उनमें से कई सतिगुरू के पास सेवा करती हैं, कईयों को सतिगुरू ने (और) कामों में लगाया हुआ है; जिनके मन में प्यारा गुरू बसता है, सतिगुरू उनको अपना प्यार बख्शता है, सतिगुरू का अपने सिखों मित्रों पुत्रों और भाईयों से एक जैसा ही प्यार होता है। (हे सिख सहेलियो!) सारे ही ‘गुरू गुरू’ कहो, ‘गुरू गुरू’ कहने से गुरू आत्मिक जीवन दे देता है।14।

ਅਰਥ: (ਹੇ ਮਾਧੋ!) ਜਿਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਉਮੈ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਤੂੰ (ਅਸਾਡੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਪਰਗਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਤਦੋਂ ਅਸਾਡੀ ‘ਮੈਂ’ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ; (ਇਸ ‘ਮੈਂ’ ਦੇ ਹਟਣ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਸਮਝ ਆ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬੜਾ ਤੂਫ਼ਾਨ ਆਇਆਂ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਕਾ-ਨਕ ਭਰ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਅਸਲ ਵਿਚ ਉਹ (ਲਹਿਰਾਂ ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਦੇ) ਪਾਣੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਣੀ ਹੀ ਹੈ (ਤਿਵੇਂ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਆ ਜੰਤ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਹੀ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਹੈ) ।੧। ਹੇ ਮਾਧੋ! ਅਸਾਂ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਬਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਅਸੀ ਜੋ ਮੰਨੀ ਬੈਠੇ ਹਾਂ (ਕਿ ਜਗਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਹੈ) , ਉਹ ਠੀਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। (ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਕੋਈ ਰਾਜਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਤਖ਼ਤ ਉਤੇ ਸੌਂ ਜਾਏ, ਤੇ, ਸੁਫ਼ਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਮੰਗਤਾ ਬਣ ਜਾਏ, ਰਾਜ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਸੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਉਹ (ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਿਚ ਰਾਜ ਤੋਂ) ਵਿਛੜ ਕੇ ਦੁੱਖੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ (ਹੇ ਮਾਧੋ! ਤੈਥੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜ ਕੇ) ਅਸਾਡਾ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਹਾਲ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।੨। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਰੱਸੀ ਤੇ ਸੱਪ ਦਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟਾਂਤ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ (ਸੋਨੇ ਤੋਂ ਬਣੇ ਹੋਏ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਕੜੇ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਪੈ ਜਾਏ (ਕਿ ਸੋਨਾ ਹੀ ਕਈ ਕਿਸਮ ਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਅਸਾਨੂੰ ਭੁਲੇਖਾ ਬਣਿਆ ਪਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਹੈ) , ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਕੁਝ ਕੁਝ ਭੇਤ ਜਣਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਹੁਣ ਉਹ ਪੁਰਾਣੀ ਵਿਤਕਰੇ ਵਾਲੀ ਗੱਲ ਮੈਥੋਂ ਆਖੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਂਦੀ (ਭਾਵ, ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਕਿ ਜਗਤ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਹੈ) ।੩। (ਹੁਣ ਤਾਂ) ਰਵਿਦਾਸ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਖਸਮ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਰੂਪ ਬਣਾ ਕੇ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਇੱਕ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਹੈ, ਸਭ ਘਟਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਬੈਠਾ ਜਗਤ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। (ਦੂਰ ਨਹੀਂ) ਮੇਰੇ ਹੱਥ ਤੋਂ ਭੀ ਨੇੜੇ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਕੁਝ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਵਰਤ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਵਿਚ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।੪।੧। ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਭਾਵ: ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਰਬ-ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੈ। ਪਰ ਜੀਵ ਆਪਣੀ ‘ਹਉਂ’ ਦੇ ਘੇਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ ਜਗਤ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਹਸਤੀ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ‘ਹਉਂ’ ਹੈ, ਉਤਨਾ ਚਿਰ ਵਿਤਕਰੇ ਹਨ।

अर्थ: (हे माधो!) जब तक हम जीवों में अहंकार रहता है, तब तक तू (हमारे अंदर) प्रकट नहीं होता, पर जब तू प्रत्यक्ष होता है तब हमारी ‘मैं’ दूर हो जाती है; (इस ‘मैं’ के हटने से ही हमें ये समझ आ जाती है कि) जैसे बड़ा तूफ़ान आने से समुंद्र लहरों से नाको-नाक भर जाता है, पर असल में वह (लहरें समुंद्र के) पानी में पानी ही हैं (वैसे ही ये सारे जीव-जंतु तेरा अपना ही विकास हैं)।1। हे माधो! हम जीवों को कुछ ऐसा भुलेखा पड़ा हुआ है कि ये बयान नहीं किया जा सकता। हम जो मानें बैठे हैं (कि जगत तेरे से कोई अलग हस्ती है), वह ठीक नहीं है।1। रहाउ। (जैसे) कोई राजा अपने तख़्त पर बैठा सो जाए, और सपने में भिखारी बन जाए, राज होते हुए भी वह (सपने में राज से) विछुड़ के दुखी होता है, वैसे ही (हे माधो! तुझसे विछुड़ के) हम जीवों का हाल हो रहा है।2। जैसे रस्सी और साँप का दृष्टांत है, जैसे (सोने से बने हुए) अनेकों कड़े देख के भुलेखा पड़ जाए (कि सोना ही कई किस्म का होता है, वैसे ही हमें भुलेखा पड़ा हुआ है कि ये जगत तुझसे अलग है), पर तूने अब मुझे कुछ-कुछ भेद जता दिया है। अब वह पुरानी भेद-भाव वाली बात मुझसे कहीं नहीं जाती (भाव, अब मैं ये नहीं कहता कि जगत तुझसे अलग हस्ती है)।3। (अब तो) रविदास कहता है कि वह प्रभू-पति अनेकों रूप बना के सभी में एक स्वयं ही है, सभी घटों में खुद ही बैठा जगत के रंग माण रहा है। (दूर नहीं) मेरे हाथ से भी नजदीक है, जो कुछ (जगत में) हो रहा है, उसी की रजा में हो रहा है।4।1। शबद का भाव: परमात्मा सर्व-व्यापक है। पर जीव अपनी ‘हउ’ (मैं) के घेरे में रह के जगत को उससे अलग हस्ती समझता है। जब तक ‘मैं’ है, तब तक भेदभाव है।

ਅਨਿਕ ਬੀਂਗ ਦਾਸ ਕੇ ਪਰਹਰਿਆ ॥ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਕਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਛਡਾਇ ਲੀਓ ਜਨੁ ਅਪਨਾ ॥ ਉਰਝਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਜਾਲੁ ਜਗੁ ਸੁਪਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ ਪਰਬਤ ਦੋਖ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਕਰਾਲਾ ॥ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਦੂਰਿ ਕੀਏ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥੨॥ ਸੋਗ ਰੋਗ ਬਿਪਤਿ ਅਤਿ ਭਾਰੀ ॥ ਦੂਰਿ ਭਈ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥੩॥ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਲੀਨੋ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਇ ॥ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਗਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਾਇ ॥੪॥੨੨॥੨੮॥

ਅਰਥ: ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਸੁਪਨੇ ਵਰਗੇ ਜਗਤ (ਦਾ ਮੋਹ-) ਜਾਲ (ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਲੇ) ਚੀੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਪਰ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੂੰ (ਉਸ ਵਿਚੋਂ) ਆਪ ਕੱਢ ਲਿਆ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਵਿੰਗ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ, ਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਣਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ।੧। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸਰਨ ਆਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ) ਪਹਾੜਾਂ ਜੇਡੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਤੇ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਐਬ ਦੀਨਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਛਿਨ ਵਿਚ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ।੨। ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸੇਵਕ ਦੇ) ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਗ਼ਮ ਤੇ ਰੋਗ ਵੱਡੀਆਂ ਭਾਰੀਆਂ ਮੁਸੀਬਤਾਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ।੩। ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਆਖ-ਹੇ ਭਾਈ!) ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਫੜ ਲਏ, ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਆ ਪਿਆ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੇ ਮੇਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੜ ਲਾ ਲਿਆ।੪।੨੨।੨੮।

अनिक बींग दास के परहरिआ ॥ करि किरपा प्रभि अपना करिआ ॥१॥ तुमहि छडाइ लीओ जनु अपना ॥ उरझि परिओ जालु जगु सुपना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ परबत दोख महा बिकराला ॥ खिन महि दूरि कीए दइआला ॥२॥ सोग रोग बिपति अति भारी ॥ दूरि भई जपि नामु मुरारी ॥३॥ द्रिसटि धारि लीनो लड़ि लाइ ॥ हरि चरण गहे नानक सरणाइ ॥४॥२२॥२८॥

अर्थ: हे प्रभू! सपने जैसे जगत (के मोह) जाल (ने तेरे सेवक को चारों तरफ से) उलझा लिया है, पर तूने अपने सेवक को (उसमें से) स्वयं निकाल लिया।1। रहाउ। हे भाई! प्रभू ने अपने सेवक के अनेकों टेढ़-मेढ़ (छल कपट) दूर कर दिए, और कृपा करके उसको अपना बना लिया है।1। हे भाई! (शरण आए मनुष्य के) पहाड़ों जितने बड़े और भयानक ऐब दीनों पर दया करने वाले परमात्मा ने एक छिन में दूर कर दिए।2। हे भाई! (सेवक के) अनेकों ग़म और रोग बड़ी भारी मुसीबतें परमात्मा का नाम जपके दूर हो गई।3। हे नानक! (कह–हे भाई!) जिस मनुष्य ने परमात्मा के चरण पकड़ लिए, जो मनुष्य प्रभू की शरण आ पड़ा, परमात्मा ने मेहर की निगाह करके उसको अपने साथ लगा लिया।4।22।28।

Meaning: After wandering through so many incarnations, I have come to Your Sanctuary. Save me – lift my body up out of the deep, dark pit of the world, and attach me to Your feet. ||1|| Pause || I do not know anything about spiritual wisdom, meditation or karma, and my way of life is not clean and pure. Please attach me to the hem of the robe of the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; help me to cross over the terrible river. ||1|| Comforts, riches and the sweet pleasures of Maya – do not implant these within your mind. Daas Nanak Ji is satisfied and satiated by the Blessed Vision of the Lord’s Darshan; his only ornamentation is the love of the Lord’s Name. ||2||8||12||
